This Japanese beer glass is handcrafted by Tanshin Kiln in Hasami, Nagasaki, using their signature technique known as Crystal Carving®.

Cold beer poured into the glass reflects golden light through the translucent carved patterns, bringing the traditional Seigaiha (blue ocean waves) motif gently to life. The result is a quiet yet striking harmony of movement, light, and texture.

Crystal Carving® is a labor-intensive process developed by Tanshin Kiln. Small holes are meticulously carved into high-quality white porcelain from Amakusa, Kumamoto. These are then filled with a specially formulated clay and fired twice at temperatures exceeding 1300°C, creating jewel-like transparency within the porcelain itself.
Because each piece is carved by hand, no two glasses are exactly alike.

The Seigaiha pattern symbolizes endless waves and lasting good fortune, making this glass both meaningful and timeless. Light, thin, and beautifully balanced, it fits comfortably in the hand and enhances not only beer, but also green tea, juice, or sparkling water.
