Design & Meaning

The hand-painted tokusa (horsetail stripe) pattern has been cherished in Japan since the Edo period, symbolizing growth, prosperity, and good fortune.
The deep indigo lines, combined with the earthy “rust-rim” accent, create a timeless look that complements both Japanese and Western cuisine.

The Maker

Crafted by Kazunori Ota of Daikei Kiln, a master potter from Hasami, Nagasaki. Using traditional forming techniques, each bowl carries subtle variations in glaze, color, and form — no two pieces are ever alike. These nuances are the hallmark of true handcraft.
